Bird Watching by Boat or Safari

Begin with a walk to the edge of the tank with your naturalist to begin a gentle cruise on a catamaran across the tranquil environs of the Habarana reservoir. As the boatman peddles you away along the banks, you can spot a myriad of water birds eagerly looking to feed in the mornings, as the sun rises. Many species of birds can be seen at the tank including the blue tailed bee eater, bright green warbler, forest wagtail, march sandpiper and large billed leaf warbler amongst others.

Bird watching can also be done by safari in Yala, Wilpattu or Bundala National Parks.
