Itinerary in Detail

Day 1

THIMPHU

Welcome to Bhutan. Upon arrival you will be greeted by one of our guide outside the airport. Let’s head towards Thimphu, the capital city. On the way, visit Tachogang Lhakhang. It was built by the great iron bridge builder Thangtong Gyalpo. He has built numerous iron bridges and temples in Bhutan and Tibet. The temple is located just 10 minutes’ walk away from the road. Cross over by walking on a 900 years old iron bridge adorned with prayer flags.

Day 2

PUNAKHA

Punakha was the former capital of Bhutan. On the way, stop and enjoy this beautiful mountain pass consisting of 108 memorial stupas and a 360-degree
panoramic view of the Himalayas, Punakha Dzong/Fortress the second oldest and the second largest in the country. It is located between two major rivers
and is the most majestic and famous structure in the country. Thereon see the Suspension Bridge, which stretches behind Punakha Dzong connecting with the villages on the other side. It is one of the longest bridges in Bhutan. Finally hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Choretn, this chorten/stupa was designed based on the principals within the holy scriptures instead of modern engineering manuals.

Day 3

PARO

Travel to Paro the home to the only International airport in the country. Paro is filled with many sacred sites and historical buildings. Enroute to Paro, visit Chimi Lhakhang, built in the 15 th century, the temple is known as fertility temple. A 20 minutes’ walk across the terraced fields through Sopsokha village will bring you to the temple. Visit Ta Dzong, The National Museum which lies perched atop the hill which overlooks the majestic Fortress of Paro. And finally Kyichu Lhakhang one of the oldest temples in the country dating back to the 7th century. It is one of the 108 temples built by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo to subdue an ogress that was obstructing the spread of Buddhism. These 108 temples
were built in a single night.
