Itinerary in Detail
Day 1
Kandy
Having arrived in Sri Lanka you will be greeted by our chauffeur guide at the airport itself. Take a leisurely drive into central Sri Lanka’s rich forests of Hunasgiriya. Relish the scenic journey as you pass the paddy fields of the low country ascending to the tea plantations and forests of Hunasgiriya. Along the way you will be passing sites of interest such as the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and the hustle of bustle of cities like Kandy - depending on your flight timing you are welcome to drop by and visit these places. Find yourself surrounded by rolling green hills and listen for the trickle of hidden waterfalls. We have handpicked a charming property - the cozy en-suite style bungalow, Mahatenne House, which is part of the working Ashburnham tea estate.

Day 2
Kandy
Spend a lazy day adjusting to the Sri Lankan way. At a convenient time, drop by the closest city, Kandy, well known as the centre of Buddhism. During your city tour of Kandy you will be shown the market place, pollah, where locals shop for just about everything from perishables like fruits to material things like clothing. Next, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which houses Sri Lanka’s most sacred relic, a tooth of the Lord Buddha. The Temple itself dates from the 16th century and is entered through two doors showing mythical beasts. Back at the Ashburnham estate, we suggest you follow the trail around the Ashburnham estate with in search of the stream which breaks in to are not just one but two waterfalls. This private setting is wonderful for a leisurely dip.
